Meter Tampering

METER TAMPERING IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE- Do not remove, tamper with or obstruct a water meter.  Doing so may result in tampering fees, criminal charges, or civil penalties. 

Water meters are the property of South 43 Water Association. If the water needs to be turned off to your property for any repairs, please contact South 43 Water Association at 765.657.5000 during normal business hours (765.720.9468 After Hours) and a service technician will be dispatched.  

It is illegal for any unauthorized person to alter, tamper with, relocate, willfully damage, or bypass a water meter.  It is illegal for any person other than personnel from South 43 Water Association to reconnect a water meter after South 43 Water has disconnected it, any person violating these provisions may be found guilty of a Class 1 Misdemeanor.  Whoever is found guilty of violating these provisions shall be liable to South 43 Water Association for all losses and damages incurred. 

Obstructing a Water Meter – South 43 Water Association personnel must have access to water meters to properly maintain water services and to ensure accurate billing.  The utility customer is responsible to maintain access to the water meter  including to trim, cut back, and remove any bushes, trees, plants, sod, landscaping, etc. that may cover or pbstruct access to water meter.
